About

Why be reliant upon secular media sources, literary works penned by atheists, and embittered hearsay to inform your views on religiosity, or worse still to bring about the lack thereof, isn’t that as sensible as asking directions to KFC from Ronald McDonald? Old School Contemporary, I hope will become that font of knowledge wherein honest discourse and fair minded criticism are for all seekers of God common property.

    • It would rather be the information of the blog, which comes from some of the best in the study of faith, which would be properly described as a knowledge font, not myself. 🙂

Though insofar as seekers of God are concerned, there’s such an array of information available, much of which interoperates the question of the ultimate absolute through the eyes of political correctness, or even religious relativism, both of which are from the outset incapable of coming to the knowledge of the ultimate absolute, I’m happy to have the sort of exchange, as I’m sure most honest people are, which would throw out these failed ways of interpenetration in favour of an unbridled pursuit of truth. Due to which the readers wouldn’t try finding the ultimate absolute in political correctness or religious relativism, for both of these demand people grant everything regardless of their truth value an equal platform. The God I’m referring to would be found in the person of Jesus Christ, for the reason that it’s Christ who has had the transformative impact upon me which no other holy man or sage claims to have. I’d ask you to consider one God over others simply because the others aren’t Gods, they’re idols. Insofar as other propositions of religions are concerned, I’ve enjoyed studying many, from the beheading of Ganesh by their father Shiva, to the tale of the Buddha abandoning their wife and child so to find the path of enlightenment. I’m sharing with you, my friend, that in the case of every religious teacher or originator, there emerges a clear distinction between the teacher and their teaching by which they claim to rescue you, from Mohammed and their Qur’an, which he claimed would seduce you by its poetry, to Buddha and their Nobel Paths, which ought to guide you. You aren’t to run to Zoroaster, or Krishna, or anyone of these many people. Though you’re being asked to run to Christ, They’re saying Their words are never going to pass away, and that by simply asking Him, He might come into your life, you’re being asked to cast your cares upon Him so that you too might experience an existential change so dramatic as if to totally rebirth you. This is one of many reasons I’d ask you to consider Christ as a person, as opposed to the others, which are merely propositions.

    • I’d imagine nobody, no person of depth perhaps, would be in agreement with anybody else’s beliefs en toto, although that’s no bad thing, in fact, the deeper people go the more chances they find for honest disagreement. Although, I’m curious as to how someone “imposes” their belief upon another, would government taxing me to pay for feckless people to abort their still breathing children be considered their beliefs imposed upon me? And if so, would my desire to end both their unfair taxation of my wages, in addition to subverting their slaughter of children, be considered my will imposed upon their lives? How’s about if by my beliefs I have decided “thou shall not murder”, and that those who do murder are to be held morally responsible, as stated in the ten commandments, and hope to impose my views upon someone who murders by way of a lengthy prison sentence. Would you be so disheartened by my imposing my system of beliefs upon Ted Bundy, Stalin or the “killer clown” John Wayne Gacy?

      • That is a pretty intense reply to what was meant as a supportive comment after you were kind enough to follow my blog.
But I have neither the time nor the inclination for an on-line discussion of this depth.
        Good luck.

      • Well, C.E, as you’d know from having read my “about” section, OSC shouldn’t be considered somewhere in which you can glibly write about people “imposing” their views without also being asked some thought-provoking questions in return. You may find such an event or its subject matter intense, yet, composing my reply took less than a minute or two, and your reply would perhaps come in an altogether shorter time. If however you lack mere minutes or even seconds to discuss some of the more in-depth and rewarding subjects about human existence, well, that’s your decision. I’m pleased you’ve stopped by, and if ever you find either time or inclination, I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. The Lord loves you and I hope you come back someday.

  1. It’s true. You woke up and found yourself in Uncle Bardie Country. Now that you have followed Uncle Bardie, you may find yourself at that fork in the road that you have to take. With Uncle Bardie for a guide, you can be comforted that you may stub your toe on a pun, find you can’t resist laughing at those things you never thought funny, and wake up to wonder what Uncle Bardie is up to. It’s okay. That itch can be scratched. Simply tune in to the next Post, It could very well be a doozy or not. Either way it will be coming from the whacky mind of Uncle Bardie. So thanks for following Uncle Bardie’s Stories & Such. It beats bananas any day. Unless…but that’s a whole ‘nother thang. And one last thing. Have a great day (or night, depending on your perspective).

    • I’d rather be correct than politically correct, as the old book title goes. And that’s a welcomed compliment, Sheila. Writing and communication is so very important, especially in places like London, where the majority of people speak “the Queen’s English” so poorly. I look forward to improving, as ever. When I read such amazing literature as “Who moved the stone” by Frank Morison (only on page 27!) I’m reminded how much improvement I have yet to make in the area.

    • And on my end, it’s always delightful to wake up and read so encouraging a message. Reading your article on “Deep gratitude” was really very dramatic and shocking, thank God your more trying times are behind you. PS. We named our cat “Lain” about four years ago. 🙂

    • I wouldn’t mind, although my answer won’t be particularly thrilling. You’d came up in a simple reader search, which I’ll always do based upon the subject of the last topic I’ve posted, that subject being “spirituality” in the form of JP Sears’ spiritual life video. So, it’s mostly my own foot-soldiering which brought me to you. You’ve taken some wonderful photos, really beautiful. Hopefully this blog will provide you with some interesting discussion, or at least you’ll enjoy me butting heads with people (it’s all very serene) 🙄

    • Such a resolute introductory message, John! Surely by photography you’re also drawn into discussions of history, beauty too, nonetheless, thank you for stopping by, I’ll enjoy if ever you expand the topics in which you’re willing to discuss. I’ve much enjoyed viewing your photos this evening. Some of your photos of urban graffiti, which ordinarily wouldn’t interest me, especially caught my eye.

      • Thank you for your reply. Photography is not only a mechanism for documenting the world around us, it can also be used as a creative medium for those making a statement.
I am pleased you enjoyed my photos of urban graffiti. For years I have been intrigued with the “street talk”. I first became aware of its place in civilization in Mexico. Where it was used over centuries by revolutionaries.

  2. You’ve certainly chosen a very interesting but also a controversial subject for your blog. I expect that you have very interesting discussions with other bloggers here and look forward to reading more 😀 Thank you for visiting and following my blog.

    • The observation about controversy is true, and also very sad, as it’s such a rewarding topic to be deemed untouchable. While other modes of thought or expression, like the expression of one’s sexual preference, are being further mainstreamed, faith, especially Christian faith here in its native West, is really being made into the last taboo. I’m sure there are many readers here, not myself, but many, who still remember when divorce was something of a scandal! Two people, most likely parents, separating, the shame involved would have been extraordinary. That’s not me rendering a verdict on divorce either way, some are clearly necessary, like in the case of persistent adultery, whereas others are clearly more frivolous in nature. Rather my point is to say it’s amazing how the “controversy” has been long disarmed with regards to marrieds who throw in the towel for any reason, whereas faith, the f word, has become increasingly closeted. Oh the shame to write about your religious world view!

  3. I have neglected to say “thank you” for following me! Pardon how slow progress is, I am simply preoccupied with other things while building up my personal library with books relevant to the website’s purpose. Of course, that can get expensive and time-consuming, so I am looking to add people to the team so they can focus on such things as the natural sciences, social sciences, arts, sets of philosophies here and there, humanities, and other sets of topics while I focus on hermeneutics and (by extension) the apologetics that go with that field. My only stipulations are that any prospects are within the orthodoxy of the faith (I don’t particularly care about denominational background) and are more than willing to consult the scholarly and/or (as the case might be) scientific works of people within related fields (or, at least, people who reliably cite such sources).

Do you know of anybody that might be willing to lend me a hand and alleviate some of the work so I can focus more on one thing at a time?

  4. If what you say in your About T. C. M on oldschoolcontemporary is what you really believe, than why do you promote Secular evil Photography as we see above right, it grieves me to see Porn publicly shown on a Christian Blog as you have done and yes it is Porn because it gives reality to what evil thinks is good.

Some Men dream of having a Harem of woman waiting for their sexual attention, it’s also practiced in Paganism and some Cults but we know God forbids Adultery and Fornication and this is what your Photo portrays even it used as an example.

I came here T. C. M to Thank you for joining up with Freedomborn which I appreciated but Hopefully you will seek The Lord in future for your Graphics, it is the same with those who show naked Men and Woman and claim it is OK because it is an Art form, it is not OK it is in reality Old and New time Porn, God covered Adam and Eve’s nudity and also asks Woman to dress modestly and not like a lot do today leaving little to the imagination and not just on beaches but everywhere even in Churches, which can cause Men to sin in their thoughts.

    • Hello Anne, thanks for your comment. I’m curious however, which picture has offended you so badly? If you mean to write the collection of pictures set upon the front page, which are actually a series of pictures based primarily upon Mormon beliefs and historic practices, that’s a far cry from pornography. Pornography is material made with an intent to cause sexual excitement, whereas the above picture, the photo which has impacted you so strongly, is far more comical than anything else. Perhaps these images have excited you, they’ve not brought about in anyone else such feelings however. Writing “it is Porn because it gives reality to what evil thinks is good”, that’s not biblical, that’s not even sensible. So, thank you for your kind advise to seek the Lord, although your sensitivities on this matter aren’t from God, they’re from an arrogant heart.

Also, Adam and Eve covered their own nudity, not God. They covered themselves after coming to the knowledge of sin. You need to go back and read your Bible. Genesis chapter three explains: “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” Unless you’re a Mormon Adam isn’t God. Adam and Eve clothed their nakedness. God kindly clothing His creation later doesn’t detract from the above.

If you’ve visited my about page from your phone, which would cause only two images to appear at the top of your screen, you’ll come away without a proper knowledge of what the collection of images is meaning to express. Try returning by use of a laptop or personal computer so that you’ll get a bigger, less inaccurate picture.

  5. As God tells us T. C. M we cannot judge anyone’s heart only He can, how sad your actions show contempt for His guidelines. I rebuked you privately because I care, you moderate so no one else needed to know, just because Mormons promote Fornication and Adultery by their words and actions does not mean we do the same, the picture you Posted is promoting their evil and you can be sure rubbish in rubbish out.

But do you really believe showing a naked Man in bed with 3 naked Woman is glorifying to God and why would this debauchery excite me, do you think a Woman wants to be sexually abused by Men which is what this Picture is promoting. Be careful T.C.M how you judge others by your own understanding or you will be judged the same.

As for others not objecting, I remember a saying…..Just because everyone is doing or excepting evil does not make it right or just because nobody is doing what is right does not make evil exceptionable.

What God warns us about… Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for Light and Light for darkness that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! K.J.V

    • So, by your reasoning, Anne, by uploading a photo of Mormon “fornication”/”adultery”, that’s to promote fornication and adultery. If you carry over that kind of thinking into other areas of life, uploading a photo of some Nazi symbol would be, by your method, supporting/promoting Nazism, or to show an act of terrorism would be to support terrorism. That’s simply muddled thinking. By judging “hearts” that’s figurative, my sister. Christ in Matthew chapter seven, as you appear to be aware, taught “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” due to which you imagine I ought not to have judged you for your inaccurate sermonizing, however, if you’d continue reading, Matthew seven is a command to judge, not to not judge, it’s actually commanding believers to judge right. You’ve judged wrong, so too was your understanding of Adam and Eve’s nakedness wrong.

Once again, pornography is material made with an intent to cause some kind of perverse excitement in the viewer, that’s not in any way the intent of the front page (although you’ve certainly noticed something in it). By your reasoning children who play in a water park are porn stars because in some very twisted people’s minds that’s sexual. In addition, when you’ve shared, “As for others not objecting, I remember a saying…..Just because everyone is doing or excepting evil does not make it right or just because nobody is doing what is right does not make evil exceptionable.” You’re mistaken, my friend, as I’ve never written others don’t object, my exact words happen to be “Perhaps these images have excited you, they’ve not brought about in anyone else such feelings however.” My message pointed out this image hasn’t brought about any kind of perverted eroticism in readers who’ve contacted the pages of this site, now, that’s not the same as writing “others aren’t objecting”, you’ve got to read more carefully. Although a person may think their pearls of wisdom gone to waste, your pearls, upon this occasion, aren’t even relevant.

Thank you for your quotation of Isaiah, hopefully you’ve read from him more thoroughly than you’re reading from me. . .and from Genesis. I can’t make you read properly, Anne. I can’t make you read your Bible and come away less ignorant of God’s word, thankfully smarts aren’t what brings you and I into His presence, it’s grace. I appreciate how you care, truly, however, you’ve misplaced tact, intellect, patience, reading comprehension and good humour in the meanwhile.
